Seam Welding

Seam Welding

Mondo resilient rubber flooring does not necessitate heat welding of the seams. However, you have the option of heat welding rubber sheets, in the event it may be specified to meet particular project needs.

Seam welding is most often required when the flooring is being installed in an environment with higher sanitation standards than usual, such as hospitals, clinics, treatment centers and long-term care facilities. Welding the seams creates a uniform surface with no cracks in which bacteria could accumulate. While this can usually be maintained through regular cleaning, such facilities must keep a tighter control over the propagation of bacteria as their users are often people with at-risk or low immune systems. In the case of operation rooms, seam welding is a necessity to ensure the room can be maintained to a high standard of sanitation, as the risk of catching infections is much higher while a patient is exposed during a procedure.

Mondo Contract flooring offers large rolls (6’1”), which helps make the process of seam welding less time-consuming and costly. We have the options of heat weld and cold weld and a selection of welding rod colors that will match with our entire line.

WARNING: If you have never heat welded seams of rubber flooring before, you should not attempt to do so without sufficient practice and qualified on‐site supervision. If you have never heat welded any type of flooring before, then you must obtain the proper training and do multiple practice runs on scrap material to develop your skills prior to attempting a task of this nature. This procedure calls for an experienced installation technician. Communicate with Mondo’s Technical Department for further details.
