Lexington’s new state-of-the-art high school opened in August 2017. The facilities currently have approximately 900 students enrolled and aim to eventually double that number, which is a tall order reflected in the planning of the building. The design of the school is set for 21-century teaching methods, collaboration and technology use which were all integrated in the educational structure.
They added off-campus visits and community service to their students’ curriculum and created smaller learning communities to focus on relevant topics for each student. All the furniture is mobile so classrooms can be adapted and transformed to better serve the academic subject and the students. Thanks to modern technology such as LED and solar lighting along with a geothermal heat pump, the high school offers an environmentally friendly building.
The school installed 72,925 square feet of Harmoni in their new facility. Harmoni provides the flooring attributes needed in this dynamic environment as it has durability, noise reduction qualities and high rolling load resistance. The Harmoni color pallete gives designers a wide range of options to create a vibrant academic setting. The school also strives for a more sustainable footprint, a noble goal our products can help to achieve.
