Frederick Douglass High School
Lexington’s new state-of-the-art high school opened this year. The facilities currently had around 900 students enrolled and eventually aims to double that number. The design of the school also applies to the education structure. They added out of campus visits, community service and smaller learning communities to focus on relevant topics for each student. They included moving furniture so classrooms can be adapted and transformed to better serve the academic subject and the students. Thanks to modern technology such as interactive flat monitors, LED and solar lighting and a geothermal heat pump, the high school aims to offer all possible opportunities for students to have an advantage in the workforce.
The school installed 72,925 sq. ft. of Harmoni in their new facility. Harmoni will support those ever-changing classrooms as it has a high rolling load resistance. The school also strives for a more sustainable footprint, a noble goal our products can help to achieve.
